WTF Sydney is one of the most active teams in the world’s fastest-growing animal rights and vegan advocacy organisation. But really — we’re just a group of everyday people volunteering our time to try to create a better world for animals and we need your help. 💪✊

Inspired by the incredible "outreach truck" events by We The Free teams in the UK, we will have a central screen in the middle of one of Sydney's busiest spots.

The screen will display a 4-minute countdown during which curious members of the public will be encouraged to gather around in anticipation of the screening, along with the promise of a prize if they participate.

Upon the countdown's end, a powerful and sobering 3-minute movie will play, exposing the truth about our use of animals in Australian agriculture. Following this, numerous vegan outreachers will engage in conversations with participants, helping them process the disturbing reality of animal exploitation and inspiring them to align their actions with their values by going vegan.

Instead of a truck, at the heart of our event will be Steven Walker, who will attempt to stand, holding the screen - and in turn the stories of these animals - for 12 hours straight. Steven set the record for this twice, in 2018, 2019, and 6 years later is determined to do it again. If he is able to complete this intense task of endurance, he will have enabled this powerful 3-minute movie to be played 100 times, reaching possibly over 1,000 members of the public.

Along with this, as he prepares for the task, Steven - together with We The Free Sydney - will aim to raise $1,200AUD ($100 for each hour he stands) to go towards vital equipment and resources for the local Sydney animal activist community. On top of that, one of our incredible donors has offered to TRIPLE every dollar raised (with two-thirds going to the Sydney community and one-third to starting new teams around Australia). This means an amazing $3,600 to help make a better world for animals.

⚡ Why We Need Your Support

This funding will contribute directly to the event in helping purchase 2 high-quality portable power stations. These incredible, lightweight stations will help the Sydney activism community by:

1. Powering Steven's screen for the entirety of the 12-Hour Movie Challenge.

2. Ensuring our devices like laptops, critical to our weekly 3 Minute Movie Challenge events, stay charged and ready to go at all times.

3. Allowing the easy use of large screens to display footage at various protests and demonstrations like #DropCroc and others.

🐾 Our Work

We specialise in innovative and impactful street advocacy events called The 3 Minute Movie Challenge. We offer members of the public a plant-based snack in exchange for watching a powerful 3-minute video about our broken relationship with animals. Afterwards, our experienced outreachers engage individuals in long-form conversations, aiming to help them explore their own values and inspire meaningful behaviour change.

Since starting in January 2023, we’ve run well over 100 outreach events and numerous community and social gatherings. In that time, we’ve engaged with thousands of individuals — helping them understand the truth about animal exploitation and empowering them to live vegan.

This means an amazing $3,600 to help make a better world for animals.
