In Bali, farmed animals have almost no voice.

Across Indonesia, a handful of organisations campaign for slightly larger cages or more “humane” treatment — but almost no one is asking the deeper question:
Why are animals exploited at all?

Animal exploitation here is so normalised that pigs are slaughtered and dismembered on the side of the street as tourists watch. Baby chicks are killed in ceremonies. Goats are slaughtered publicly as part of celebrations framed as generosity and community.

Bali Animal Rights Club (WTF Bali) exists to challenge this reality — and to show that people can practice tradition, faith, and citizenship without using animals as products or resources, creating a better world for animals and humans. ✊🌏

🌏 Advocacy Within a Complex Reality

Protest in Indonesia carries real legal and personal risks. Because of this, WTF Bali activists work carefully within existing legal frameworks, finding innovative, culturally sensitive ways to raise awareness and inspire change — without putting activists at risk.

🐾 What We’ve Achieved So Far

In just the past few months, with very limited resources, WTF Bali has:

• Supported local activists to host outreach stalls at vegan festivals

• Shown powerful animal rights footage to thousands of Indonesian locals and international tourists

• Promoted accessible, delicious plant-based food alternatives

• Given talks on veganism and animal rights at schools and faith-based youth groups

• Supported the narration and promotion of the Bahasa Indonesia version of The 3 Minute Movie Challenge (3minutes.wtf/id), which has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times

Every conversation helps break the idea that animal exploitation is inevitable or unquestionable.
