Jen has been deeply immersed in the animal rights movement since going vegan in 2017, actively engaging in various forms of activism. Her dedication to the cause has led her to risk her liberty to speak up on behalf of animals and expose injustices behind closed doors, facing criminal charges on multiple occasions for her work as a whistleblower.
Jen joined We The Free as a volunteer in 2021 and quickly became deeply involved in building and supporting the organization’s global community. She first served as the Regional Support Lead for North America and later as the global Community Director, where she led training programs, supported grassroots teams around the world, and helped shape WTF’s approach to community building, conflict resolution, and movement growth.
Now as Executive Director, Jen leads We The Free’s global strategy and works to strengthen the organization’s role as a catalyst for a connected, skilled, and sustainable animal rights movement. She is particularly passionate about developing grassroots leaders, making effective vegan outreach accessible to more people, and building the relationships and infrastructure that allow activists and local communities to thrive.
Before joining We The Free, Jen spent several years in leadership roles at a YMCA Camp & Outdoor Centre, ultimately serving as Program Director and co-managing a team of more than 80 staff. Her experience there sparked a lasting interest in team dynamics, facilitation, conflict resolution, and community building.
Jen deeply believes that without a cohesive community, our movement crumbles. Everything she does is shaped by the understanding that lasting movements are built by people who feel connected, supported, and equipped to make a difference. She is passionate about creating spaces where activists can develop their skills, navigate disagreement constructively, and find a sense of belonging while working toward a world where our animal cousins are free.

I love working for We The Free because I get to combine my passion for animal rights, team development, and community building into one amazing job! I love bringing people together into a space where they feel free to be themselves and develop their skills. Once I realized the magnitude of what was happening to animals, I knew I had to focus all my time on this issue and I thought I would have to give up my passion for building positive communities and helping humans develop themselves. But then I found WTF and have been able to do things I really love while creating meaningful change for animals. I get to be a part of this beautiful community and help it flourish. I have built some really amazing friendships from working for WTF and I couldn't be more grateful.
